Aims & Scope

Aims

Membrane Research is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advanced membrane science, engineering, and separation technologies for sustainable water and environmental applications. The journal will provide a forum for researchers, practitioners, and industry experts to publish high-quality, cutting-edge research that addresses global challenges in water treatment, desalination, wastewater reuse, and environmental remediation. The mission is to accelerate innovation in membrane-based technologies, promote sustainable solutions, and bridge the gap between fundamental research and industrial applications.

Scope

The scope of the Journal includes, but is not limited to:

• Membrane Materials Development: Novel membranes, nanocomposites, biomimetic, and 2D materials

• Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs): Innovations in design, performance optimization, and biofouling control

• Membrane Modification and Functionalization: Surface chemistry, anti-fouling strategies, and selective separations

• Desalination and Water Treatment: Advanced techniques for brackish water, seawater, and industrial wastewater

• Hybrid and Integrated Systems: Coupling membranes with photocatalysis, adsorption, or biological systems

• Environmental Applications: Microplastics removal, emerging contaminants, and circular economy solutions

• Digital and Smart Membranes: Applications of AI, digital twins, and smart sensing in membrane processes
