Announcement‌ July 7, 2026 Journal of Geo-Energy and Environment

JGEE Becomes a Partner Journal of the International Mine Safety and Emergency Rescue Association

‌Journal of Geo-Energy and Environment (JGEE) has become a partner journal of the International Mine Safety and Emergency Rescue Association (IMSERA). Dr. Hu Li, the journal’s founding Editor-in-Chief, serves as the Association’s Executive Vice President. This partnership provides a new platform for academic exchange on safety and environmental issues associated with geo-energy development.

JGEE focuses on geo-energy resources and the environmental challenges associated with their exploration, development, utilization, and storage. It promotes interdisciplinary research spanning geoscience, energy engineering, and environmental science. As resource development and subsurface engineering extend to greater depths, rock-mass stability, subsurface fluid transport, monitoring and early warning, and risk assessment are closely linked to mine safety. The two organizations thus share scientific interests and research approaches that provide a basis for cooperation.

As a partner journal, JGEE will be better positioned to understand practical needs in mine safety and emergency rescue and to frame representative engineering challenges as research questions that can be systematically investigated and tested. The journal can bring together theoretical analyses, experimental studies, field observations, and numerical simulations addressing the geological conditions of deep mining, disaster mechanisms, environmental impacts, and remediation. This exchange can strengthen research at the intersection of geo-energy, safety, and environmental science.

IMSERA’s international network of researchers and practitioners also offers opportunities for wider academic exchange. Case studies and practical experience from different regions can enrich research perspectives, foster dialogue between scholars and engineering professionals, and support the development of special topics and the dissemination of research findings. JGEE will continue to uphold its peer-review and publication ethics standards, evaluating contributions on the basis of research quality and scholarly merit while serving the international research community.

Dr. Li’s roles at JGEE and IMSERA can facilitate communication between the two organizations. Building on this partnership, JGEE will remain focused on geo-energy and the environment while addressing the safety and environmental challenges of resource development. It will promote the exchange and application of high-quality research to support safer and more sustainable geo-energy development.
