Research Progress, Challenges, and Prospects of High-Pressure Water Jet Surface Modification Technology for Aerospace Materials
Journal of Materials Durability and Engineering | Volume 1, Issue 1: 4-22, 2025 | DOI: 10.62762/JMDE.2025.954580
Abstract
The water jet surface modification technology does not introduce thermal stress and thermal deformation during operation, reducing changes in the material's phase transformation temperature or grain growth, and avoiding problems related to thermal stress and deformation. It contains no chemical substances, posing no environmental pollution, and features low cost. It enables treatment of surfaces in narrow spaces, deep grooves, and on small components, and can operate under complex environmental conditions. Moreover, it is easy to mechanize and automate, showing great application prospects across many industries. This paper first reviews the development history and working principles of high-... More >

Towards Enduring Materials and Sustainable Engineering: The Launch of JMDE
Journal of Materials Durability and Engineering | Volume 1, Issue 1: 1-3, 2025 | DOI: 10.62762/JMDE.2025.961397
Abstract
In the rapidly evolving landscape of science and engineering, materials remain the backbone of technological progress. They define the strength of our bridges, the reliability of our aircraft, the performance of our electronics, and the sustainability of our infrastructure. As innovation accelerates and societal demands evolve, a central question looms larger than ever: how can we ensure that materials are not only high-performing, but also durable, reliable, and fit for long-term service? It is in response to this fundamental question that we launch the Journal of Materials Durability and Engineering (JMDE). This journal aspires to serve as a multidisciplinary and forward-looking platform f... More >
